"One's destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things"
Henri Miller
Psychotherapy is a safe and private space to unfold thoughts and feelings and let fears and fantasies out in order to assume a new and better position in life. Therefore, being in therapy requires of courage and the desire to change something.
Therapy also requires of patience. Anxiety, depression, sadness and other symptom won’t change immediately. It is important to approach therapy keeping in mind the idea of psychotherapy as a process. I firmly believe that people can switch things around in any area of their lives if they are willing to commit to the psychotherapeutic process. Psychotherapy might be one of the most beneficial investments in life.
In order to start treatment a question or enigma about an uncomfortable symptom, pattern, behavior, conflict, relationship issue, etc. needs to take place. This willingness to know and change or improve things will allow the exploration needed to be in treatment.
Psychotherapy allows to gain a new perspective about different life aspects. This new view opens the door to improve decision-making process, boost confidence and improve relationships with the world and oneself.
I also offer phone sessions or tele-therapy in some particular cases. Call or send an email to request more information about this service.
Individual Psychotherapy is a process that offers the possibility to unfold thoughts and feelings and let fears and fantasies out in order to assume a new and better position in life. It allows the elaboration of past or present painful experiences and provides tools to deal with situations in a different way. Therapy helps to identify and analyze repetitions and life choices making possible to gain a new perspective, creating new possibilities and exits to problems or stagnation.
Couples therapy assists couples and marriages to solve conflicts and problems that they cannot manage effectively on their own. Couples therapy is an instrument to explore the couple’s dynamic, increase awareness and improve communication. The impact of personal issues into the couple’s dynamics is also assessed and worked in individual sessions in order to minimize their negative effect in the couple’s relationship.
Family counseling focuses on addressing issues that affect the wellbeing and functioning of a family. It’s usually done when the family is going through a major transition or when there are mental, emotional or behavioral problems among family members affecting the family as a whole.
